If you’ve been paying attention to TCI Engineering’s Facebook page lately, you know that they’ve been up to a lot leading into the new year. Not only have they been going about business as usual, they’ve also been working on the chassis for the 2015/2016 Goodguys Giveaway Car, as well as thrashing the company’s 1968 Camaro and Sales Manager, Evan Dalley’s 1963 Nova on the track in preparation for the 2015 autocross season. Knowing this, we contacted TCI’s social media coordinator, Jason Wilcox to get the scoop on everything that’s been going on.
Back in September, the Goodguys Rod and Custom Association announced its 2015/2016 Giveaway Car– a 1932 Ford roadster set to be built by Mike Goldman Customs in Mississippi. Well, this car is well underway and on track for its July debut at the 2015 Goodguys PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio thanks to the base chassis recently being completed by TCI.
We can’t tell you much about the chassis, as most of that will be a surprise to all of us upon the car’s debut, but we can tell you that the street rod will be equipped with a special TCI chassis setup, including a 4-inch dropped axle and 4-link rear suspension. We can’t wait to see how the street rod turns out!
As far as the thrashing of the company’s famed first-gen Camaro and Dalley’s newly finished Nova go, the TCI team has been having a blast, most recently taking the cars out to the Speed Limit Racing event at the Camarillo Airport just before Christmas.
“It’s definitely a battle of egos with those two,” Wilcox told us about the two Chevys and TCI employees going head to head on the autocross course.

While Sal Solorzano piloted the Camaro, which Wilcox described as “tried and true”, as it’s been finished and raced under the TCI banner for years now to a 41.9-second best lap time, Dalley piloted his own car , which is fresh to the circuit, to a 43.3-second best lap time. Impressively enough, going into the Camarillo event, Dalley’s Nova only had about 400 miles on the build and had been to just one other event. Evan himself is fairly fresh to the autocross scene as well, so the experience wasn’t just about dialing in the car but also about learning the best driving lines.
“I’ve always been about going right and left,” Dalley told us, reiterating that he’s never been a drag racing sort of person.
After getting to drive the TCI Camaro a few years back at a handling challenge and riding with Mary Pozzi on a few laps, Dalley became hooked on the autocross scene. The Nova that he now plans to compete with in the 2015 autocross season is actually a family car that used to belong to his dad, which Dalley has built up to be a pavement hugging machine. Part of this comes from the TCI components on the car, including the Pro Touring clip in the front and the torque arm in the back.

Since competing at Camarillo, where he ran the 43.3-second lap, Dalley has modified his Nova even more, adding triple adjustable Ridetech shocks to the mix. This weekend, Dalley plans to take his car out to another competition to dial in the new shocks.
We can’t wait to see both the TCI Camaro and Dalley’s Nova compete in the 2015 autocross season. With Dalley’s pure determination for his first autocross season, we hope he reaches every goal he’s set forth, including competing in a handful of Goodguys events, competing against the best in an Optima Ultimate Street Car Challege qualifier, and ultimately making his car as quick as the TCI Camaro!
