Here we are, the end of the week is getting closer. That’s right, Thursday is casting its ever-growing shadow firmly on our garage floor. With the end of the week announcing its arrival, we know you are planning to work on your project this weekend. Maybe your plans have already been made? If your plans for spending some time in your garage include am interior upgrade to your classic, you might want to check this out.
In this edition of Throwback Thursday, we’ve opened the Power Automedia vault, and are taking a short hop back to March, 2018 to check out: Complete, Custom Tri-Five Interior Installed In A Weekend. In the original article, we worked with TMI Products to take a look at what can be done to improve and modernize the interior of a classic Tri-Five. While the article focuses on the iconic Chevy, TMI has similar kits for a multitude of other makes and models.
It’s no surprise that a custom upholstery can do wonders to complete the look of a car. We’ve all seen cars with show-quality paint that are brought down by an old, worn interior – or lack of upholstery altogether. We’ve also seen what a stunning interior can do for a seasoned car or one that’s been left untouched on the outside. There is no arguing that a nice, clean, or custom upholstery job really does wonders to finish the overall look of a build.
In the original article, we learn that TMI makes and sells complete, custom upholstery kits that come ready to install. What’s more, you can install them in your garage or driveway in a weekend. We wanted to know more, so we talked to Larry Ashley, director of marketing for TMI, and he gave us the low-down on the custom kits.
“It’s a custom interior in a box. You pull it out of the box and put it in your car,” Larry explained. That sounds easy enough. Although TMI does make custom interiors for many makes and models, we were fortunate enough to follow along as one of the company’s brand-new Tri-Five kits was being installed in a car. “With the Tri-Five, you can install the kit in roughly 12 hours,” Larry said.
Deciding to tackle an upgrade like this in your hot rod takes a lot consideration, and hopefully, this guidance from TMI Products will give you some insight into what’s available and why you should consider an interior upgrade.
You’ll have to check out the original article to get the full download, and I thought; Complete, Custom Tri-Five Interior Installed In A Weekend would be a great article for this week’s Throwback Thursday.
