Video: 1955 Chevy Wagon Street Rod “Finished”

We just can’t get enough of these tri-five Chevys. The sleek, smooth lines, when combined with a healthy respect and imaginative mind, can create some really cool customs. Today’s hot rod, a 1955 Chevy station wagon, pays heed to such principles and delivers a hot rod we’re just itchin’ to drive ourselves.

trifiverearquarterpanelScottieDTV once again delivers the goods, and gives us the inside look at this custard-colored ’55 Chev. This particular Chevy had the unfortunate odds of being caught in the Nashville flood back in 2011, and underwent a huge overhaul by two companies: Griffey’s Hot Rods and Restorations and Pro Auto Custom Interiors

The latter’s owner, Steve Holcomb, is being interviewed about the final work done to the car; namely, the interior. Scottie brings us around the driver’s side, where we get our first good peek at what’s happened.

The entirety has been given an earth-tone hue called “Saffron” interior overhaul. As per the buyer’s instructions, the car was redesigned to accommodate family driving with some custom modern touches.

These included the installation of cupholders in the console and on either end of the stock-styled rear seat. Each one comes with its own 12V outlet, and a couple outlets even made it to the cargo area for when the kids want to lay back and listen to music. Interestingly, the stock-looking window cranks are electric.

In the rear, we can see the hidden air ride suspension system, which was demonstrated in the beginning of the video. The headliner, Steve states, was made from Californian wool, as was the carpet.

Under the hood rests a gleaming, chrome-plated small-block, done up by the aforementioned Griffey’s Hot Rods and Restorations. It’s everyone’s favorite 265, just like they sold it fresh from the factory. It’s almost too beautiful (and shiny) to stare at.

This was one lucky old Chevrolet. From the depths of a flooded Nashville, it got a second shot at life with some great restorers, and we wish it well as it travels America’s highways. With all the work and dedication that got put into it, it’s more than ready to get back on the road again.
