Wandering around online, we came across a custom that will literally blow your socks and hats off without hassle. Posted on Engine Swap Depot, a one-off twin engine 1930 Hudson Hornet was recently put up for auction on eBay.
Although the bid ended, maybe the owner pulled it down for unknown reasons. Nonetheless, let us tell you a little bit about the twin engine monster.
A true one-off, this Hudson Hornet is fascinating and unique. With meticulous attention to detail and unmatched craftsmanship, you would think that it took an entire team of engineers to build this beast.
However, it was built by a single individual who made made their dream a reality. A complete build, this Hudson Hornet is fully functional, with its dual 468 cubic-inch Chevy Big-Block V8’s with Holley hydraulic camshafts, 454 steel heads, dual 600 CFS carburetors, and dual 671 GMC blowers. All of this works in unison to create a mind-blowing output rated upwards of 1,600 horsepower!
You can only imagine how much power is at the touch of the gas pedal with all this power, which is driven by two Turbo-Hydramatic 400 transmissions with custom shift kits. Building a car with two of everything, we applaud the builder of this hot rod for accomplishing this engineering feat alone.
It almost sounds unreal that almost 1,000 cubic-inches of engine are fused together onto one chassis. To put it into more perspective, this Hudson Hornet runs on four MSD distributors, dual master cylinders, and dual 9-inch Ford rearends with Eaton Detroit Lockers.
All of this and there is no mechanical faults with this rod, it even runs on normal fuel from your local gas station. Breaking away from the motor, the body of the Hudson was taken off the frame and experienced colossal fabrications.
The roof of the Hudson was chopped 3-inches and stretched 13-inches wide. The rear wheel housing was custom fabricated to accommodate the dual rearend to support both motors and the front fenders came off a 1927 Ford Model T. To note, the rear wheel housing measures a staggering seven feet and four inches.
1959 Cadillac taillights were installed on the rear that help accentuate the striking flares of the huge rear wheel housing. The Centerline Bottlecap rear wheels measure 15-inches in diameter and width. The fronts are a pair of Rocker Gasser rims that measure 15-inches in diameter and 4 1/2-inches in width.
Custom LED lighting on the Hudson Hornet give the car a completely different look at night. Specifically, the lighting runs all along the bottom of the Hudson as well as around the interior, front grille, and intertwined in between both motors.
The build was completed just two months ago and has less than one hundred miles on the odometer since it was finished. Truly a unique automobile, we wonder where this hot rod is going to go or if it has already been sold as the owner said he would pull down the posting if the Hudson sold in Kansas City, Missouri.
We hope it lands in the right hands of someone who respects unparalleled automotive engineering. What are your thoughts of this crazy hot rod? Be sure to leave a comment below.
