Many of us will spend years dreaming of the perfect career in the automotive industry, some succeeding in their ambitions and others taking different paths. But for 12-year-old Dylan Murry, he doesn’t have to dream of a killer automotive career because he’s already living it and he’s not even a teenager yet. On the latest DRIVEN episode, the DRIVE network catches up with Murry and his Legend racecar to see what such a bright young star brings to the hot rod and racing scenes at such a young age. Check out Murry on DRIVEN above.
Dylan Murry is the young son of international sports car racer David Murry, so it was only natural that Dylan get involved in motorsports at a young age.
But it’s not just Murry Sr.’s inspiration that this young racer has going for him. In fact, he’s won more automotive championships at age 12 than some racers see in their entire careers.
Starting out in kart racing before the age of 10, Murry holds a laundry list of championship wins, including the 2010 Andretti Pro Cup Karting League, 2011 WKA Jr. Sportsman 1 Boxstock, and 2012 GSKA and Southeastern Divisional championship titles. In his karting career, Murry has also seen countless podium finishes and more than 25 feature wins.
But Murry isn’t just stretching his legs in go-kart racing anymore. For 2013, Murry is moving up in the sport and trying his hand at Legends racing. While this pre-teen is still years from getting his driver’s license, Murry is certainly a force to be reckoned with on and off the course, and we’re sure that with an inspiration like David Murry as his father, it will only get bigger and better for Dylan as he takes the Legends racing scene by storm.
Best of luck goes out to Dylan for his 2013 race season.
