Video: Supercharged Moonshine Runner Inspired ’57 Ford Is 700 Proof

Another entry from our friend ScottieDTV is this custom Ford. 700 proof sounds pretty powerful to us, in this case that represents both the moonshine runner theme of this build and the rear wheel horsepower of this 1957 Ford 300 Custom. All 7oo horsepower – on pump gas – is coming from a 326 cubic inch 3-valve Ford modular motor topped off with an Edelbrock E-Force supercharger.

John Jennings is the proud owner of this black beauty in the video above and is a long time Ford enthusiast. It’s filled with subtle touches, from the hood scoop grafted from a 1961 Thunderbird, the bench seat that flawlessly imitates custom bucket seats, to the immaculately leather trimmed trunk. John chose 17×7 and 17×9 aluminum wheels and then coated them black to simulate “steelies”.

The long flowing trim down the side is normally gold in the center, but John chose to black out the center keeping with the moonshine runner theme. He chose the 3-valve motor because it responds to supercharging better than the 4-valve motor.  He backed it up with a 4R70W transmission controlled by a Powertrain Control Solutions control module spinning a 9-inch Ford rearend.

It’s always nice to see something different in the musclecar world and this Ford does that for sure. The moonshine runner theme is executed well from the stance to the interior and having 700 proof definitely helps in that category also.

If you study the underhood photos, you’ll notice that the wiring harnesses and modules are cleverly hidden. Attention to detail shows in every nook and cranny of this Ford. Hats off to John Jennings and the many people responsible for this throwback moonshine runner. Would you suspect that kind of power with it sitting next to you at a traffic light?
