Video: Taking Pride In A ’57 Chevy Is Easy When It Looks This Good

Few cars occupy a space in automotive Americana like the Chevy Tri-Fives–big, bold, sleek, and powerful, they were the perfect herald of a new age reflecting America at the time. New moms and dads, taking residence in the suburban outcroppings of Baltimore, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and other major metropolitan cities were looking for affordable yet distinctive cars to match their new house, and Chevrolet was more than happy to address that need.

Screen Shot 2014-03-04 at 12.17.19 PMWe all know what we’re talking about here: the 1955-57 150, 210, and Bel-Air. They represented a significant change from models of years prior, mainly due to the then-staggering 265 cu-in. V8, which could produce over 160 hp. Car buyers could option the car out and wind up with something like the Bel-Air, equipped with the “Power Pack” to make 180 hp, as well as all the chrome you could ever possibly want on a single motor vehicle.

Shown in the video above is a car quite similar to the one just described. Belonging to Northern Californian David Fox, entrepreneur and founder of Agistix and ARTA Tequila, the Tuxedo Black Bel Air is a car that’s withstood the test of time, and will continue to do so with Fox’s TLC.

He bought the car up in Washington after months of research, and decided to make a trip out of it with his son. Together, the boys flew up to the Evergreen State to pick up the car, and then drove the entire route back home.57Chevy_4

Along the way, the duo stopped to view the glorious Crater Lake in southwestern Oregon, cruised through the ancient redwoods of Humboldt county, down through to Fort Bragg to peruse stained glass artwork, and then home.

Since that epic road trip, the family has taken good care of the car, and seen decent use out of it as a weekend cruiser. We don’t think the car could have asked for a better owner.57Chevy_1
